I’ve always been a fan of menswear-inspired pieces, but as the trend towards unisex or gender-neutral clothing strengthens, I’ve started to go directly to the menswear departments to find something a little bit different. Cos, in particular, is full of fabulous menswear pieces that will translate just as well in a woman’s wardrobe. I was there on Saturday browsing with my brother and I saw as many items?that would work for me as for him. Some stores such as River Island stock sizes as small as XXS, while a’size S in Cos suits me, as I like pieces to be a little bit fluid and not too fitted. It’s really a case of trial and error in terms of finding the right menswear fit for you. Here are a few items?I’ve got my eye on right now.
I almost bought this jumper at the weekend before realising I’d forgotten my wallet. I love the fine knit and the straight cut of this sweater, plus the vertical front pattern will elongate your torso if your proportions need a bit of balancing.
This is an expensive piece, but the the print on this Givenchy shirt looks almost hand-painted. This shirt would look incredible worn over high-waisted trousers.
Stripes are a key print for SS17. If you’re looking for stripes with some’depth rather than the pretty pastel variety, this sweater will work for you. It comes in a slim fit, and because it’s available in XXS upwards, you should be able to find a fit that is slim enough for your frame.
I love this knitted vest from Irish label Inis Meain. I’d buy this in a bigger size and belt it over a midi skirt. It’s a great piece for layering through spring when temperatures fluctuate.
