A permanent Maria Tash pop-up is coming to Brown Thomas this October

Maria Tash, the body piercer who gave rise to the “curated ear”, will open a permanent pop-up at Brown Thomas, Dublin, this October

Who: Fine body jewellery artist Maria Tash: pioneer of the modern movement for luxurious, petite diamond body jewellery.

What: Dazzling earrings, septum and nose jewellery, and body jewellery using fine stones and minerals. Her work is inspired by Indian and Pakistani designs and includes intricate and delicate nostril and ear jewellery.

Where: Brown Thomas Level 2, from October 2018

Why we love her: Tash has developed and nurtured a successful career spanning more than 21 years, earning her serious credibility among the piercing and body art communities. With an Armenian-American heritage, Maria Tash has innovated the body art world and propelled it into the 21st Century marketplace. By combining her rich Eastern heritage with 21st-century Western culture, she has created a space in Western culture where personal expression through body art is considered beautiful. Her eponymous piercing spa and boutique in New York City is known for creating the perfect “curated ear”; a selection of custom piercings and jewellery to suit each client. International model and activist Adwoa Aboah, below, shows off her decked-out ear with Maria Tash diamonds and hardware.

With prices starting from €115, customers will have the to experience styling advice from the brand’s experts and avail of in-store piercing services (walk-ins and pre-booking service will be available). If the idea sticking a needle in your ear sounds like a nuisance, just look at the long list of celebrities (including Beyonce, Scarlett Johansson, and Gwenyth Paltrow) who’ve endured Maria’s sharp touch, which might entice you. It’s unclear which pieces from Tash’s dazzling collections will be available, but it is definitely worth taking a visit to see these coveted pieces.
