The best unwired bras, because right now we are prioritising comfort

The best unwired bras, because right now we are prioritising comfort

When you’re not leaving the house much, unwired bras provide just enough support while ensuring you remain comfortable all day.

If there’s one thing I’ve gained from lockdown number one, it’s an antipathy for wired bras. I was never their biggest fan, before, but I considered them necessary at least some of the time. When I was no longer heading out to work every day, I found myself turning to my unwired bras, and I can say that my wired ones haven’t got an outing since.

I realise that those with larger busts might require more support than these bras offer, but if they work for you, there are a number of great options out there.

Organic Basics TENCEL™ Lite Bralette, €55

best unwired bras

Made from Tencel, an eco-friendly fibre created from wood pulp, and made by people who earn a living wage, this bra is incredibly soft, and its elastic underband means it’s vey comfortable, too.

It comes in seven gorgeous colours, and its cutout detail makes it feel stylish, without being fussy. There are matching pants, too, if that’s your thing.

Sloggi Oxygene Bra, €31.48, Arnotts

best unwired bras

With moulded cups, this bra provides more support than some other unwired designs, while its sheer panel is a nice detail.

Sloggi are also known as a great quality bra brand, so if you’re unsure about trying unwired, this is a reliable place to start. It’s currently reduced at Arnotts, normally €39.95.

Moons & Junes Kahlo bra, €61.13

best unwired bras

This gorgeous bra is made from a silky double layer of mesh, so it definitely falls on the sexy side of things, rather than a ‘I didn’t get dressed today’ vibe.

This Danish brand only makes unwired bras, so they have thoughtful details to make their bras suitable for larger busts as well as small. There are adjustable satin straps that run down each side of the cup, and there is a strategically placed stitch at the centre of the chest connecting the two cups, which gives as much of a lift as possible.

Everlane ReNew Bra, €22

best unwired bras

Made from recycled plastic bottles, the shape of this bra is ideal for low-cut tops, while its wide straps and underband mean it will never cut into you.

It has soft cups, and the material is designed to lie flat against your skin, for a seamless look.

Monki Organic cotton bra, €12

This design, made from organic cotton, comes in nine cute colours, and is a great price, too. The ribbed style is a lovely detail.

M&S 2pk Full Cup Crossover Non-Wired Bras A-E, €22

M&S are another brand known for their excellent bras, and they have plenty of non-wired styles to choose from. This design is ideal for those that still want the support of cups, while the two-pack is excellent value.

This bra also comes in standard bra sizes, where many unwired styles simply come in small, medium, or large, so you have a much better change of getting a perfect fit.
