If you’re looking for a project, these three properties all have huge potential with a small price tag.
Limerick is becoming an increasingly popular location to live. With the University of Limerick as well as the National Technology Park employing many, others are considering the city as an alternative to Dublin or Cork, with its smaller size, yet with plenty of the same attractions such as shops and culture.
While property prices in the city itself can be relatively high in the most popular areas, there’s plenty of value to be had in the surrounding rural regions, which are still easy from which to access the city. Here are three homes in Limerick under €75,000. All require some renovation, but provide a great opportunity to create your own perfect home in a picturesque location.
Scart, Pallasgreen, €75,000
Surrounded by quiet countryside yet situated just 30 minutes drive from Limerick city, this beautiful little cottage will actually require only a small amount of work, as it has been mostly renovated with new windows, tiled and wooden floors, and the walls have been plastered.
All that’s left to do is really put your own finishing touches on the building, and it would make a lovely home for a couple or small family. With two bedrooms, a living room, kitchen and bathroom, it is compact, but with a plot of one acre, it provides scope to extend.
Ballymore, Askeaton, €55,000
Just 30 minutes west of Limerick city, this house is located close to the Shannon estuary and its stunning scenery. Trees and shrubs provide privacy to the front, and inside there are two bedrooms, a kitchen, living room and bathroom. The interior is in need of a full renovation, and this would also provide the opportunity to extend or reconfigure the property.
A yard and several outbuildings to the rear provide plenty of space for a possible extension, or a separate space for an office or studio.
Kilmoylan, Doon, €50,000
Only 35 minutes from the city, this cottage is located on the edge of the village of Doon, near the Tipperary border. It will need full refurbishment, and any prospective buyer might also consider extending, as the small property comes with a stretch of land to the side.
Its traditional style will definitely appeal, and the inside has the potential to become a home with plenty of original character
