Is this 15-acre country estate in Wicklow a steal for €975,000?

The six-bedroom period Aughrim House for sale in Wicklow has been beautifully restored and comes with a converted stone cottage, a variety of outbuildings and a lush 15 acres of land.

Just hear me out.

Granted, at IMAGE we spend a lot of our time looking at gorgeous Irish homes and lavish properties, so our understandings of a “steal” are a little skewed. Whether on shoots for Image Interiors or looking through the property sites in search of a good investment or an out-of-this-world mansion, we’re pretty spoiled for (theoretical) choice.

But this one? This one seems to be both.

It’s got incredible interiors and the six-bedroom period house has clearly been well cared for. It’s also got a number of outhouses ripe for renovation, and one that’s already been converted into a gorgeous little cottage. It’s located in the quaint village of Aughrim. Co Wicklow, just an hour and 15 minutes from Dublin. And all of this coming in for under a million euro?!

Aughrim House is secluded and quiet, a winding private road leading under a stone arch and into the gravelled courtyard. Up the stone steps and through the front door is a light-filled hall, which divides the south-facing drawing and living rooms. Both still boast a number of period features including corniced ceilings, centre roses, and magnificent open fireplaces.

Through the drawing room is a large conservatory on one side and the dining room, access through ornate folding doors. The kitchen is located off the living room and overlooks the rear courtyard through large sash windows. It is large and spacious with an AGA range as well as a modern Bosch cooker. Tucked off it is a considerable pantry with a double Belfast sink.

To the rear of the house is an office, boot room, WC and shower room, while upstairs are six generously proportioned bedrooms and two bathrooms.

However, that is not all. Adjoining to the house and accessed through a separate entrance in the courtyard is a beautiful two-bedroom cottage. It features an open-plan living/kitchen/diner with a woodburning stove and a bathroom. Secluded amongst the mature trees and with its own private garden, you’d hardly even know it was there.

The rest of the stone buildings include a two-storey granary, a coach house, multiple stores, an old dairy, livestock stalls, a ruin and a magnificent, tall stone barn that are all ripe for potential conversion. All set within a gloriously green 15 acres.

And all for €975,000.
