What do you know about Armie Hammer’s darkly bizarre social media scandal?

What do you know about Armie Hammer’s darkly bizarre social media scandal?

The actor continues to be mired in a snowballing controversy after alleged DMs the actor wrote leaked online.

You couldn’t make up the bizarre world of celebrity up.

Recently it emerged that the Rebecca star allegedly wrote writing graphic, sexually explicit DMs to women that include fantasies about cannibalism which continues to dominate headlines.

“I am 100% a cannibal,” he allegedly wrote in one message to a woman. “I need to drink your blood,” he supposedly wrote in another. Screenshots of the DMs were originally published by an Instagram account called House of Effie. The account, run by an anonymous user, has continued sharing screenshots featuring more purported messages from Hammer, who allegedly also fantasised about cutting a woman into pieces and eating her.

The distribution of the alleged screenshots on Instagram has opened Pandora’s box, with at least three of Hammer’s former partners making claims against him.

Jessica Ciencin Henriquez, who reportedly dated Hammer last year, said publicly she believed the DMs to be “real.”

Henriquez later tweeted: “I’m seeing a lot of posts going around about how I am a man-hater and I would just like to clarify: Yes. I love women, I respect women … I stand by women, and I hate men who don’t.” She has since made her account private.

Hammer has dismissed the claims.

Since then, more stories about Hammer have emerged, painting a picture of alleged patterns of abusive conduct. In a statement, he has called these claims “bullshit.” A lawyer for Hammer stated, “The stories being perpetuated in the media are a misguided attempt to present a one-sided narrative with the goal of tarnishing Mr. Hammer’s reputation, and communications from the individuals involved prove that.”

It emerged he will be recast in the upcoming romantic comedy Shotgun Wedding in the wake of the controversy, pulling out due to the “vicious” abuse he received after the allegations emerged.

“I’m not responding to these bullsh*t claims, but in light of the vicious and spurious online attacks against me,” in a statement. “I cannot in good conscience now leave my children for four months to shoot a film in the Dominican Republic,” Hammer said. “Lionsgate is supporting me in this, and I’m grateful to them for that.”

A representative for the production told the outlet that “Armie has requested to step away from the film, and we support him in his decision.” Hammer has two children with TV personality Elizabeth Chambers. The pair announced their separation in July 2020. Since, she has made some roundabout commentary on the issue, like bombarding her office with cleansing sage and making Instagram posts that simply say “No. Words.”

Shotgun Wedding, which sold to Amazon in December, is a romantic comedy co-starring Jennifer Lopez. Production was slated to begin early this year.

This week, it was also reported Hammer is no longer represented by agency WME, and that his personal publicist has walked away as well.
