From West Cork to Wexford, these homes all feel like special finds for their relatively small price.
One of the benefits of living on an island is the relatively high number of places that are close to the sea. Once you add in the many loughs and rivers dotted around the country, and it gives endless options for people who are drawn to the peaceful calm of living with water nearby.
We’ve found three picturesque properties around the country within a stone’s throw of the water, all on the market for €200,000.
Pier Lodge, Arthurstown, Wexford
This two-bed home, dating from the mid-1800s, was built as a gate lodge for the Dunbrody Park Estate. Its living room features a bay window, and the rooms are generously sized.
The interiors are somewhat outdated, and a new owner would probably want to modernise them, but it seems otherwise in good condition. The home looks out onto the estuary across to county Waterford.
Kilgarve, Rooskey, Roscommon
Sitting next to Grange Lough on a 1.9 acre plot, this two-bed home has plenty of charm, with features including exposed beams in the living room, and vaulted ceilings on the upper floor.
Situated in this beautiful midlands area, the homes is just 20 minutes’ drive from Carrick-on-Shannon, while Sligo is around an hour away.
Lehenagh, Clonakilty, West Cork
This two-bed home sits on a plot of just under half an acre, and looks out to the sea near Barry’s Cove. It has been recently renovated, including rewiring, a new insulated floor, an insulated roof, an oil-fired heating system, stove and new front door, so it’s in great condition.
The interiors are bright and clean, and the house is within walking distance of several beaches. The nearby area, including Courtmacsherry, Clonakilty and Rosscarbery have plenty of offer in terms of both outdoor pursuits and local amenities.
