If you’re flexible about your location, there are some properties around the country that offer excellent value for a family searching for a home.
As we’re all very much still living with the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, families across the country are becoming frustrated with too-small homes.
Whether it’s extra bedrooms to accommodate new additions to the family, or more outdoor space for children to play safely, many are realising that their current homes are lacking, but large homes can be prohibitively expensive, especially in urban areas.
If, however, you’re open to the idea of a less in-demand location, there are amazing properties to be found for a fraction of the price they would be elsewhere. Here are three that would make great family homes for under €100,000.
7 Lisacul Manor, Lisacul, Castlerea, Co. Roscommon, €99,000
A modern home with four bedrooms and a large garden to the rear, this property would be ideal for those with a young family. It is in excellent condition, and is not in need of any updates, although of course any new owners may wish to put their own stamp on things.
Located just outside the village of Lisacul and just 15 minutes from Castlerea, it is also well connected to local amenities, including shops and schools.
15 Charleton Hill, New Ross, Co. Wexford, €95,000
One that needs more work internally, but in a very good location, this home has three bedrooms, and gardens to the front and back. It is within walking distance of the centre of New Ross, and only around half an hour’s drive to both Waterford and Wexford.
Inside, it needs modernisation, but this does provide opportunity for its new owners to make it their own.
Cortoon, Shrule, Co. Mayo, €100,000
Perfect for those who would prefer a rural location, this large home has three bedrooms, and all of the rooms are generously-sized, with high ceilings.
The interiors of the house are basic, but it is in good condition, as it was refurbished in 2009, including the installation of new electrics and boiler. It is situated on a 0.75 acre site, so has plenty of outdoor space, while it’s just a five-minute drive to the village of Shrule.
