3 houses to buy within an hour of Dublin that still feel like the countryside, all under €200,000
20th Oct 2020
If you want to escape the city for the countryside, but still be within easy reach of Dublin, here are three houses that help you have the best of both worlds.
Although many of us have been dreaming of relocating to the country since the pandemic, trading our urban locations for beautiful scenery and peaceful surroundings, there are many reasons why we might still need access to the city.
Whether it’s work commitments, family ties or merely the host of activities Dublin offers, it’s not always practical to totally leave the capital behind.
Thankfully, there are plenty of homes within an hour of Dublin that still have the feel of the countryside. Here are three on the market for €200,000 and under.
Limeville, Kildare Road, Rathangan, €200,000
Situated on the outskirts of the town of Rathangan, this three-bed detached home feels close to the countryside, with all the amenities of the town nearby.
Inside, it would benefit from some modernisation, but is in good condition. The house also has several outbuildings with the potential for a number of uses.
With access to the M7 Motorway just 10 kilometres away, Dublin is around an hour by car, while the rail service from Kildare station provides another option for visiting the city.
Dressoge, Athboy, Co. Meath, €179,000
Sitting on half an acre of land, this home is on a quiet country road near a number of villages. With three bedrooms, well-sized kitchen and living room, it would make a great family home.
The house is in good condition, and although a new owner may wish to make changes, there is nothing to prevent them moving in immediately.
While being within an hour of Dublin, the house is also located just 15 minutes from Navan town and 10 minutes from Trim, so there is plenty of choice when it comes to local amenities.
1, Ballinacor, Wicklow, €190,000
Although in need of some work, this 2-bed cottage would make a lovely home, and its location is particularly good.
Set on a half-acre site, it’s surrounded by beautiful countryside, just three kilometres from the National Botanic Gardens at Kilmacurragh and seven kilometres from Brittas Bay, whilst Dublin can be reached in under an hour.
Wicklow town is also just 10 minutes’ drive away, giving access to its schools, shops and restaurants. The property comes with a garage and shed for outdoor storage.
