The couple – who reunited last summer after almost two decades apart – is reportedly in escrow for an impressive $55 million Bel-Air estate.
Rumours that Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck had rekindled their romance first started circulating around this time last year. Many wrote it off as nothing more than a rebound – Affleck had just split from Ana de Armas and JLo was newly single after a four-year relationship with Alex Rodriguez – but one full year later and the couple are more loved up than ever.
Things have apparently been going so well that they’ve even decided to move in together and are reportedly in escrow for a huge luxury estate in Los Angeles.
According to TMZ, who first broke the story, the spectacular mansion was built in 1936 by architect Paul Williams and spans across almost 20,000 square feet and 1.2 acres of lush Californian countryside. In search of something big enough to accommodate their blended family and then some, the new house comes complete with 10 bedrooms, 17 bathrooms (17!!!), multiple kitchens (four, to be exact), a theatre, gym, his and hers baths and a giant pool. And that’s without mentioning the incredible views of the city below.
Sounds like they went from a little to a lot this year. Imagine the sheer amount of toilet paper one would have to buy to accommodate 17 bathrooms?! Insane.
Hidden in a private forest in L.A., the property lies almost directly across the street from the main entrance to the prestigious Bel Air Country Club. Currently owned by hedge fund manager Todd Lemkin and his longtime wife, Kasey, they bought the place for $27.6 million back in 2016. Now going for more than double that, the duo were originally asking for $65 million for the place, but have since dropped to $55 million.
Listings held by Drew Fenton and Linda May of Hilton & Hyland show that the property contains grandly-scaled rooms that open to a massive backyard, along with a separate guesthouse. Other highlights of the three-level residence include a wine cellar and wood-panelled office. The master bedroom has dual closets and a single bathroom decked out in marble.
Downstairs, the basement level includes a media room, gym and a private “security suite” for a full-time bodyguard. Out back, the infinity-edged pool is joined by several loggias (a covered exterior gallery or corridor), fire-pits, a putting green and carefully manicured gardens.
Aside from their current Los Angeles homes, both Affleck and Lopez have a slew of other properties between them. Affleck still owns a large estate in Georgia while Lopez has a $20 million condo in New York City as well as another mansion in the Hamptons. She’s also got a relatively “humble” home in L.A.’s Encino neighbourhood, which she acquired a couple of years ago.
As for the Lemkins, the couple has reportedly relocated from Bel Air to Dallas, with another $23 million holiday home in Aspen.
The deal isn’t 100% signed, sealed, delivered yet though as there are still a few contingencies that must be met – which is basically what the phrase “in escrow” means… don’t say Selling Sunset isn’t educational!
