As if there wasn’t already enough excitement surrounding the actor in recent months, the dulcet tones of Mr Murphy will be dancing across the BBC Radio 6 airwaves very soon.
It’s a good time to be a Cillian Murphy fan.
Making a grand return to BBC Radio 6 with a weekly instalment of nocturnal playlists to draw the weekend to a close and ease you off to sleep, Cillian Murphy’s Limited Edition will kick off on Sunday 17 September from 10pm-12am.
According to BBC, these sessions will see Cillian explore music from all corners of his record collection, and share why they hold a special place in his life across ten weekly broadcasts.

Speaking on air with Nemone, who’s been covering for Lauren Laverne, Murphy said “It’s been a while, but I am thrilled to be back playing tunes on 6 Music, my favourite radio station in the world… The show will be a sound collage of new, old and limited edition tunes for your discerning ears.”
This will be the actor’s third time taking the reins of the radio slot, having hosted two previous instalments in the autumns of 2020 and 2021. Artists who have featured across the previous two series include Bicep, Big Thief, Carly Simon, David Bowie, Grace Jones, Julia Holter, Laura Marling, Laura Veirs, Madlib, Marvin Gaye, Max Richter, Micah P. Hinson, Nick Cave, Nils Frahm, Nina Simone, Patti Smith, Pixies, PJ Harvey, Prince, The Stooges, Thin Lizzy, Thom Yorke and Wu-Lu.
Just last month, a video of the man himself DJing at a Bounce Back event in Cork city back in 2013 went viral, and if it’s anything to go by, we’ll be in for some top-notch listening. The question remains: will he be sitting on Guinness of Murphy’s while he’s spinning the decks this time round?
