In the age of the Barbie Movie, how can we raise caring, well-adjusted men?

As society evolves, so do our perspectives on raising the next generation. Amid the whimsical allure of a beloved Barbie movie, a thought arises for Andrea O’Grady: how does this celluloid universe impact and reflect the way boys perceive themselves and their place in the real world?

My 13-year-old daughter loved Barbie and while it’s certainly clever, funny and entertaining with lots to say, I couldn’t help wonder what my 10-year-old son (who was desperate to see it) might think about his place in the real world it portrays where, to my mind, there aren’t any positive male role models or in Barbie Land where Kens are almost exclusively defined by their relationship to Barbie.  and are all ripped, homogeneous, one-dimensional dolts…...
