A release date for season 3 of Succession has been announced

The darkly funny drama returns as the Roy family as each member attempts to make their way to the top of the family’s global media company, Waystar Royco.

Succession, which has been on an extended hiatus thanks to the Covid pandemic, is making a triumphantly messy return to HBO/Sky this October – and it looks like it’s going to be must-watch TV.

After Season 2 saw the bombshell ending of Kendall Roy (Jeremy Strong) finally stand up to his father, Logan Roy (Brian Cox) in a power move, the third season seems to focus on the fallout of the situation, with Logan dealing with Kendall’s actions and the rest of the family being thrown the middle of a battle for power. It’s quite literally everyone for themselves.

Season 3 is set to premiere on HBO in October, as announced in a tweet on Monday.

But, even if you think you know how things might go, the teaser makes it clear that nothing will be as clear-cut as it might appear.

As well as the regular faces, the new season will see some familiar actors take on new roles, though neither Adrien Brody nor Alexander Skarsgård appear in the trailer despite the recent announcement that they will both be joining the cast for the new season.

There’ll be a family war of epic proportions – and we can’t wait to see how it all unfolds.
