Dreaming of a winter getaway? Here are some of our favourite Irish hotels to book now

Whether you want a relaxing retreat or a buzzy city break, we’ve put together a list of stylish spots that will make sure you have everything you could want.

If life appears to be fast-paced at the moment, you’re not alone – we all seem to be feeling busier than ever. And with the dark evenings and colder days definitely here for the foreseeable, it’s important to schedule in ways to take time for yourself.

An Irish break is the perfect way to pause the busyness of everyday life, without the hassle of the airport. There are so many amazing hotels to escape to, here are a few of our favourites.

The Dean, Galway

This design-focused hotel is full of stylish details wherever you look, from the bespoke rooms to the rooftop restaurant.

The luxurious Power Gym is an enjoyable place to get a workout in, while the hotel’s Hydrotherapy relaxation pool is ideal to take some time to unwind.

With two restaurant options – Sophie’s and Elephant & Castle – as well as Dime coffee hatch, you could happily stay in the hotel for the duration of your trip, but with Galway on your doorstep, you won’t be short of options.

As well as the city’s many sights and activities, the Galway Christmas Market will be returning to Eyre Square from November 11 until December 22.

Glasson Lakehouse, Co Westmeath

For those looking for a total escape from it all, Glasson Lakehouse feels like a world away from everything, yet is just over an hour and a half from Dublin.

The hotel has a rustic, cabin vibe, with everything you need to relax, from a spa and outdoor hot tubs with a view of the lake, to a golf course and boats for hire.

There are so many options to help you tailor your perfect stay, from dog-friendly rooms so your four-legged friend can get in on the fun, to family rooms with bunk-beds the kids will love, or a cabin that is the perfect couple’s retreat.

The outdoor heated pool is bound to tempt you in, while the outdoor terrace makes the ideal spot to gather for a pre-dinner drink around the firepit. If things get too chilly, head inside to Bonnie’s restaurant for a delicious meal, or wander down to the lakeside food trucks for some favourites guaranteed to please everyone.

The Devlin, Dublin

Set in the heart of Ranelagh, The Devlin lets you experience a stay in one of Dublin’s coolest neighbourhoods, while being just a short trip to the city centre.

But if the hustle and bustle of the city gets too much, the Americana Bar and Layla’s restaurant (with its incredible views), are both stylish spots to while away a few hours.

You can even retreat to the hotel’s subterranean cinema, The Stella. It has comfy seats, and you can order gourmet bar food, popcorn, sweet treats, or even a cocktail while you enjoy the film on show.

The rooms are fully equipped with grooming goodies, a Dyson hairdryer, a Marshall amp, a smart TV, and you can even ask for hair straighteners at reception.

The Mayson, Dublin

For a stay in Dublin’s buzzy docklands, The Mayson is an ideal choice. As well as being close to the 3Arena for concerts, this up-and-coming part of the city is full of cool new openings, and is close to the city centre.

And just because you’re so close to the city centre, doesn’t mean there aren’t spaces to relax. As well as the gym, there’s a sauna, steam room and a heated relaxation pool overlooking the hotel’s central outdoor courtyard.

And with a choice of places to eat or enjoy a drink, including cosy pub The Bottle Boy, it’s the perfect place to retreat to after a busy day.
