Everything we want from the colourful interiors collaboration between Ingrid Hoey and CA Design

The eye-catching collection features statement pieces from as far afield as Miami and Morocco.

If you’re looking for some statement pieces for your home, look no further than the CA Design x Ingrid Hoey edit, which is available from today.

This collaboration between two seriously stylish women is just as gorgeous as you’d expect. Carol-Anne Leyden of CA Design has been selling stylish homeware and furniture for years, while stylist Ingrid Hoey is known for her colourful looks.

The two first thought of working together during lockdown. “After many discussions and brainstorming over WhatsApp and Zoom throughout the past 5 months, we decided that ultimately, we wanted to bring products to CA Design customers that spark joy and bring colour and fun to their homes,” Carol-Anne explains.

They also wanted to bring a taste of what we were all missing into our homes: foreign travel. “We have a mutual love of travel,” Ingrid says, “and everyone has missed travelling this past year. It made us reminisce about our favourite cities and the ones we want to visit.”

Although Ingrid is primarily known for her fashion work, she has found interiors a natural fit. “I have always loved interiors,” she says. “I suppose in my mind, fashion and interiors sit side by side. It’s creating a space that you love and that makes you feel happy, and in the same way I envision fashion looks in my head before they go on a body, I look at interiors that way too. Does it fit the mood of the room, does it compliment pieces I already have?”

Creating the collection during a pandemic was not without its challenges. “I always like to meet suppliers face to face and see the workmanship in person,” Carol-Anne explains, “but the logistics with the pandemic is quite testing, especially  getting samples in on time.  We did have lots of fun Zoom calls with artisans from all over the world, but nothing beats face to face. Miami and Morocco are first on the list to visit when restrictions lift!”

The collection includes incredible pieces including handmade pottery from Miami and rugs crafted in Morocco, and both Carol-Anne and Ingrid chose pieces with interesting colours and textures.

Carol-Anne also points out that “mixing shapes and not getting too stuck on one form is so important, and really helps to create the feeling of a thought out and well-designed home. A common interior mistake that people often make is being too ‘matchy matchy’ — the more mixed up the better, mix wood tones, textures and colours. Most importantly, have fun and choose items that spark joy in you, and ones you will enjoy living with for many years.”
