The actor was found unresponsive in his hotel room in Florida, where he was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The world was rocked by Betty White’s death just over a week ago, now 10 days later and the streak of bad news continues as actor Bob Saget – best known for playing beloved TV dad Danny Tanner on Full House – has also passed away at the age of 65.

Police were called out to the scene after a man was found unresponsive in his hotel room, with the Orange County sheriff’s office confirming the deceased’s identity on social media. No cause of death has been determined as of yet though detectives didn’t find any signs of foul play or drug use at the scene.

“Earlier today, deputies were called to the Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes for a call about an unresponsive man in a hotel room. The man was identified as Robert Saget and pronounced deceased on scene. Detectives found no signs of foul play or drug use in his case,” the sheriff’s office said in a short statement shared to Twitter.

Also the host of America’s Funniest Home Videos, Saget was a popular comedian and had just embarked on his new 2022 stand-up tour. Already having performed one show in Jacksonville, the star had later tweeted to thank the “appreciative audience” for their support. “I had no idea I did a 2 hr set tonight. I’m happily addicted again to this sh*t,” he wrote alongside a selfie of himself smiling on set.

Countless friends and former colleagues have paid tribute to the actor since hearing the sad news, including his former TV daughters Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen who shared the role of Michelle on Full House back in the sitcom’s prime.

“Bob was the most loving, compassionate and generous man. We are deeply saddened that he is no longer with us but know that he will continue to be by our side to guide us as gracefully as he always has. We are thinking of his daughters, wife and family and are sending our condolences.”

John Stamos joined the Olsen twins in honouring Saget, writing that he is “broken” by the announcement that his friend is gone. “I am in complete and utter shock. I will never ever have another friend like him. I love you so much Bobby.”

Clearly leaving a very prominent impression on just about everyone he met, many others have shared their own fond memories of the actor with the general sentiment being that he was one of the rare ones. “I know that people lose loved ones, good people, every day. No one gets a pass. “But the loss of Bob Saget hits deep,” US comedian Jason Alexander tweeted in light of the news. “If you didn’t know him, he was kind and dear and cared about people deeply. He was the definition of ‘a good egg’. Too soon he leaves.”

Saget’s family also shared their own heartfelt statement online, writing that “he was everything to us”. “We want you to know how much he loved his fans, performing live and bringing people from all walks of life together with laughter,” they added. The family have asked the public for privacy during this very difficult time, though they did invite fans to join them in “remember the love and laughter that Bob brought to the world”.
