From embracing the outdoors to shining a spotlight on our possessions that mean a lot to us, it’s giving us plenty of great ideas for our own homes.
Coming to the end of January, it finally feels like we can start to look ahead to spring and all it has to offer. With the warmer, longer days usually comes a desire to shake up our spaces a little, swapping out the cosy for fresh touches.
And if you’re looking for some inspiration, Ikea’s spring summer collection is a great place to start. Not only is it full of gorgeous ideas you can do with items you already have, there are also plenty of additions to their range that won’t break the bank.
Here are some of the collection’s key themes.
Celebration
With restrictions ending, it feels like an apt time to gather friends and family and spend quality time together for a celebration.
Whether it’s to mark a party that was missed or just an excuse to see everyone, you’ll want to create a warm welcome for anything from a catch up over coffee to a full-on celebration.
As a result, the collection has plenty to help, from joyful tablecloths and gorgeous vases to set a spring table, or pretty cups to sit around the table with friends.
Centre your clutter
We can often think of many of the items in our home as merely clutter, but many of them are there because they mean something special to us. A reminder of a person, something we find truly beautiful, or that makes us smile.
Therefore instead of aiming to declutter your space by hiding everything away in boxes and drawers, use these prized possessions to accentuate your home’s decor. Rather than going out to buy a new ornament, find something that you already have and love and more it to a more prominent position, while display cabinets can help keep things organised yet still visible.
Outside in
Spring is one of the most exciting times of the year in nature, when new shoots push through, flowers open, and everything starts to come to life once more. So why not bring this feeling of rejuvenation into your home?
Plants and flowers are a great way to do this, as well as a fresh colour palette full of spring colours, while it’s also a great time to refresh your outdoor space.
