Is buying an Emma Sleep mattress really worth it?

Is buying an Emma Sleep mattress really worth it?

I recently tried out the Emma Sleep Luxe Cooling Mattress to see if it lived up to the hype – here's how I got on.

There are many people in this world who can function on a few hours of sleep – I am not one of them. When I don’t get enough rest, I turn into a 5’2” redhead version of Jekyll and Hyde, which depending on who you ask, will tell you is even more terrifying.

So, when I recently moved apartments into a lovely furnished space, the first thing I did was plonk onto the bed… and nearly bruised my back. The mattress was unbearably stiff, and a quick search for the tag proved why – it was an orthopaedic mattress. While that was great for my partner’s sciatica, I was left sore and restless each morning.

Alas, I decided to try out the trending Emma Sleep mattress that I’d seen ads for online. It’s a bit pricier than your average mid-range mattress, so if you’re thinking of getting one for yourself, you’re probably wondering if it’s really worth it.

Long story short, it is – especially in the warm summer months. I’ve been sleeping on the Emma Luxe Cooling Mattress for the past four weeks and these are the biggest benefits I’ve noticed.

01 A hybrid mattress reigns supreme

I have lived in a lot of different places and slept on a lot of different mattresses, from bouncy, spring-loaded beds to sinking memory foam, and I’ve found issues with both. I recently discovered that hybrid mattresses incorporate the best of both worlds, and the Emma Sleep Luxe Cooling Mattress is one such hybrid.

Its layers include 5 Zone CarbonFlex Springs combined with advanced Halo Memory Foam, designed to offer you the greatest comfort and support to boost the quality of your sleep. The result? My soreness subsided within the first week of sleeping on the new mattress and I started to sleep deeper, with fewer disturbances waking me up throughout the night.

02 I actually stay cool all night long

This particular mattress is made with advanced cooling technology. Graphite particles in the top layer absorb excess body heat and distribute it away from the mattress. This, and its breathable material, has a thermoregulation effect, keeping you fresh and cool throughout the night.

I’m usually shoving a sheet between my partner and me (he has the body temperature of the sun) but now we can actually sleep comfortably beside each other on hot summer nights. Combine this with a cracked open bedroom window and I sleep like a dream.

03 I can move more without disturbing my partner

My partner weighs more than I do and with our old mattress, his body would create a dip in the bed that I’d roll into within a few minutes of sleep. And while that was nice for winter warmth, it has been a bit too toasty since May.

This mattress has a lot more stability, meaning no gravitational pull from my partner. And, when one of us moves or has to get up earlier, the other isn’t disturbed. They get to keep sleeping in their blissful, Emma Sleep cocoon.

04 Both of our body types are supported

Some people pay a fortune for a bed where you can adjust each side’s firmness to each other’s preference. But with a versatile mattress, I feel like this same effect is achieved. As I previously mentioned, my partner suffers from back issues and the support from this mattress has been far more beneficial than the unmovable orthopaedic mattress we had before.

Simultaneously, as someone who constantly changes positions throughout the night, the mattress is pliable enough to let my curves and limbs sink into the most comfortable position possible. This is due to the cooling memory foam layer and the CarbonFlex springs that are reinforced with core zones to ensure maximum spinal alignment.

The result

When my Emma Sleep mattress first arrived, it was much smaller than the typical bouncy mattress, and I was a bit worried. However, after the first night’s sleep, my doubts were washed away by its spongey comfort.

If you want to try it out for yourself, Emma Sleep are currently offering a 200-night free trial, allowing you to try a mattress for over six months. Plus, each mattress comes with a ten-year warranty and free delivery. What more could you ask for?
