Monday, February 26
Perfect Days, in cinemas nationwide
Nominated in the Best International Feature category at this year’s Oscars, director Wim Wenders’ film is not about toilets, he’ll have you know. A nuanced look at what it means to be human, Perfect Days takes us to Tokyo to tell a story celebrating the hidden joys and minutiae of Japanese culture. Koji Yakusho stars as Hirayama, a contemplative middle-aged man who lives a life of modesty and serenity, spending his days balancing his job as a dutiful caretaker of Tokyo’s numerous public toilets with his passion for music, literature and photography. It might seem slow-moving, but it’s worth your full attention.

An original adaptation of James Clavell’s novel, Shogun is an epic saga of war, passion, and power set in 1600 Feudal Japan. Lord Yoshii Toranaga is fighting for his life as his enemies on the Council of Regents unite against him.
