Looking for a book club? These celebrities have all started their own on Instagram

If you’re searching for your next read, they have some great suggestions.

If, like me, you’ve always loved the idea of being part of a book club, but have never found a group to join, haven’t had the time to commit to it, or have never gotten around to organising one yourself, then Instagram book clubs seem like a great solution.

#Bookstagram has definitely seen a rise in popularity during the pandemic, with many people sharing recommendations and discussing their favourite books online.

Not only do you get all the benefits of a book club (great recommendations, interesting discussions) no matter where you are, you can even get a kick out of knowing you’re enjoying the same book as one of your favourite celebrities, as more and more of them are starting their own clubs for us to join in.

Here are some celebrities worth a follow for book-lovers.

Reese Witherspoon

Reese’s Book Club is pretty well-known at this point, with 2.1 million followers on Instagram, so you know you’re in great company when you choose to read along with one of her picks. Each month Reese chooses a new book with a woman at the centre of the story.

Recent titles have included Seven Days In June by Tia Williams, The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave and Northern Spy by Flynn Berry.

Florence Welch

Singer Florence Welch didn’t actually come up with the idea to start a book club herself. Back in 2012, an Irish teenager tweeted her with the suggestion, and Between Two Books was born.

It’s run by Florence and a small team, who post recommendations and readings. Their current book is Joan Didion’s The Year of Magical Thinking.

Emma Roberts

Along with her friend Karah Preiss, actor Emma Roberts set up Belletrist as a place to create conversations about great books. They share a book recommendation each month so you can read along, as well as posts from authors such as what’s currently on their bookshelves.

Kaia Gerber

The young model has started her own book club through her Instagram, and has a number of IGTV videos where she discusses books with either their authors or an interesting guest (one even features her mother, Cindy Crawford). Her latest pick is Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner.

Emma Corrin

Without any set schedule for her recommendations, actor Emma Corrin’s book club @someb00kswotiread is perfect for those that like to dip in and out of these kinds of groups. Along with her reading suggestions, she’s also read aloud from a book, which fans found very soothing.

Emma Watson

Although sadly no longer active, you can still go back through Emma Watson’s Our Shared Shelf if you’re looking for ideas of what to read, and see the discussions people had in the comments.
