As an apartment-dweller who is forced to live vicariously through the dog ownership of others, I can confirm that the past year has been a particularly good one from a dog-spotting point of view.
Dogs seem to be at every turn when I’m out and about, and every scroll on Instagram reveals a new acquaintance who has welcomed a new puppy. So many who previously didn’t have the time for a canine companion have now taken the plunge, and I also suspect the dogs who predate the pandemic are being walked more than ever before.
Whether your furry friend is a new addition to the family or a more longstanding member, you’ll know that two things are true: they both require a lot of equipment, and most of this equipment was not designed with aesthetics in mind.
But if you’ve carefully curated your home interior, there’s no need to let beds, bowls and leads disrupt your look. There are plenty of stylish dog accessories to choose from.
Your dog’s food and water bowls probably sit on the floor of your kitchen, so they’re usually hard to miss. You can invest in a design that fits in with the style of your room, whether that’s sleek and minimalist or something with more rustic vibes.
Another one that often sits in a prominent place in your home, your dog’s bed needs to be cosy for them, but there are plenty of options that won’t look out of place with your décor.
They’re definitely pricier than your standard offerings, so perhaps one to hold off on until your dog is firmly out of the ‘beds are fun to chew’ stage.
Whether it’s left by the door or hung on a special hook, your dog’s lead is an item that definitely sparks joy in them, although perhaps not in you. This doesn’t have to be the case, however, as these cool options prove. A stylish collar to complete the look isn’t a bad idea either.
The little coats and jumpers people dress their dogs in are pretty much always cute, but I couldn’t resist including some of my favourites. Whether your dog likes to wear them or not is another question entirely.
