From ambiance enhancing purchases like cosy throws and scented candles to more practical pieces like the mood-boosting SAD lamp, team IMAGE are sharing what’s in their autumnal homeware shopping baskets…

During the colder months, I’m about 90% soup, and true soup aficionados know that the right bowl is key to the whole soup-eating experience. These noodle bowls from Fermoyle Pottery look like the perfect round, deep shape, and the delicious green glaze is right up my street. My partner and I also recently vowed to phase out our ancient, and probably unsanitary chopping boards, so I’m looking forward to the next drop from Two Wooden Horses to purchase a replacement that will last for years, and look amazing on the kitchen counter.
I’m currently keeping my eye out for not-horrible door mats, and am tempted to add this colourful option to my basket. I’ve also been on the lookout for a bedside lamp, and am considering two options from Zara Home. I love the sleek design of this one, and the fact that it can easily be moved around, as it’s rechargeable, but the texture of this one perhaps feels more restful for a bedroom.

The first pieces of autumnal decor I added to my home this year (ahead of my plush pumpkin pillow) were some bunches of dried flowers from Sostrene Grene. I could perform a never-ending soliloquy about how much I love these subtle, muted bouquets, they genuinely brighten my day just by being there.
It is my long-standing ambition to make my bedroom adopt the same energy (and fragrance) of a very expensive spa, so it’s high time I pick up an electric diffuser to help me on my quest. I love this marble set from Oliver Bonas, and it comes with lavender and jasmine oils, which are my personal favourite scents, so it’s a match made in heaven.
I love my collection of mismatched mugs, and I tend to add to it each autumn season when the gravitational pull towards chai lattes and hot chocolate becomes too strong to resist. I love this hand-thrown terracotta one from the Irish Design Shop, and it’s very similar to a set my mother has in her ‘good crockery’ press, so I like the familial throughline.
Lastly, though not particularly autumn-specific, I’m going to finally invest in some vinyl storage, and this shelf from Urban Outfitters ticks all the boxes. What a treat for my little record collection, to be free from the old velvet storage box in which they’ve long been sequestered.

I find myself enthralled by artist Conor Foy’s work; his ability to “capture immense emotion through delicate figurative work” as one critic put it, really is quite mesmerising. You find yourself staring at his work, dying to know who the figures are in the paintings and what their story is. Represented by Dublin’s Molesworth Gallery this would be the investment piece I would love to treat myself and my home to this autumn.
A box of plants from Mark Grehan’s stunning plant shop on Mill Street in Dublin 8. At only €40 this lush box of green goodness also makes a gorgeous gift for someone. I love this sturdy, heavy gauge firepit in medium, €225, from The Blue Door. I have notions of sitting out in the back garden in the evening with this beauty as the weather cools.
I’ll be adding autumnal hues to all my walls with paint from Acres Hall – a family-run, boutique, online Irish paint company, based in Tullamore. Launched in 2019 by the Spollen Family, they are setting a new standard in Irish-made paint, and I adore this mustard herringbone throw by John Hanly, €160, at The Irish Design Shop.

I am trying my best to resist buying a laptop tray because I fear I might never get off the couch again and that my back will solidify into a slouch – I’d like to imagine that it would be used less for bed rotting and more for coffee cup balancing, specifically these Kinto Sepia cups from Cloud Picker, €69.95 for four, that make me jump out of bed every morning with the joy of drinking out of them.
If you are preparing to make pumpkins your whole personality for the next month, The Designed Table’s Wooden Pumpkin Napkin Rings, €28 for four, are the seasonal staple your tablescape needs, while Diptyque’s limited edition Citrouille candle, landing October 3, with a warm blend of green notes, chestnuts and spices is here to make your home smell like an expensive hotel’s interpretation of pumpkin pie.

I often struggle with the change of seasons. I find the dark evenings and cold weather incredibly hard to get to grips with and often spend the first few weeks of September lamenting the fact that summer has come and gone (with all but a few days of sun). Many people have recommended SAD lamps to me in the past and I think this is the year I finally splurge on one. I’m a bit of a sceptic as to whether they actually work or not but I’m open to being proved wrong!
Aside from that, my online shopping basket is either filled with candles or soft bedding. I’ve also been totally won over by matcha and have my eye on this gorgeous starter kit from the Asia Market.

Autumn is my favourite time of the year so I’ve already treated myself to a few feel-good finds from H&M and Next. On a colder day, you will find me nestled up on the sofa underneath a cosy throw with my doggo Pax. He’s notorious for shedding hairs but this fuzzy orange throw hides them really well and I love the colour!
I also got these cute knitted cushion covers to add a bit of texture and this chocolatey wooden tray to hold my pumpkin spice lattes and sweet treats conveniently beside me. Finally, I’m a sucker for a gonk so I had to swap my summery fairy for an autumnal prince.
