Hard to believe it’s that time of year again, but festival season is almost upon us with Forbidden Fruit (the first festival of the summer) set to kick off in Dublin’s fair city next weekend.

Set to be one of the events of the summer, a little birdie told us that the weather is supposed to be pretty great too – all the more reason to don your sequins, grab your pals and join the festivities.

Here’s what you need to know

Who’s playing at it?

As with any music festival of this calibre, the entertainment is always a highlight and this year’s line-up is no exception. On Saturday, UK rapper Central Cee will make his festival headline debut along with Japanese-British singer Rina Sawayama and Irish DJ Annie Mac amongst others.

Day two will see Swedish DJ Eric Prydz, one of the biggest names in electronic music, take to the stage for his first Dublin show in over a decade. Other standout acts include Grammy-nominated artist Honey Dijon and DJ Eliza Rose who became the first female DJ to top the Offical Singles chart in over 20 years last summer.

Where is it?

The capital’s first and longest-running city centre festival, this year marks its 11-year anniversary on the incredible grounds of the Irish Museum of Modern Art at the Royal Hospital, Kilmainham. Just 15 minutes from Dublin city centre, gates open at 2pm on both Saturday and Sunday and last entry to the festival is at 9:30pm.

If you plan on driving, you should note that there isn’t parking at the venue – the nearest public car park is Park Rite Parking Lot at 7 Queen Street in Dublin. Further information on public transport options can be found on the official Forbidden Fruit website.

Are there tickets?

The good news is that it’s not too late to join the fun and there are both weekend tickets and one-day-only tickets still available. Weekend tickets cost €139 while day tickets for either the Saturday or Sunday are priced at €74.50. You can find out more information and get yours here.

Will it rain?

Are you even going to an Irish festival if the weather isn’t your main concern? Thankfully, it doesn’t look like rain, Ted. In fact, quite the opposite and there are highs of 20°C predicted for both Saturday and Sunday… so don’t forget the suncream!
