This charming Victorian cottage in Sutton is on the market for €995,000

This charming Victorian cottage in Sutton is on the market for €995,000

This four-bedroom home for sale in Sutton is packed with Victorian charm and plenty of space.

There’s a little whimsy to this Victorian home, the pale pink exteriors, a creeping wisteria rambling up the walls. Just a short walk from the water and very close to the Sutton DART station, Melrose is a family home perfectly positioned as a little seaside escape and currently on the market for €995,000.

The four-bedroom home retains a lot of its period charm, from the stained glass windows in the porch to the Aga in the kitchen hearth, there’s charm poured into every room. Either side of the front hall is a dining room to the left and a reception room to the right. The raspberry red living room has an incredibly ornate marble fireplace and the bay window has a wraparound window seat that overlooks the garden.

To the rear is a large country-style kitchen/dining area that opens onto the back garden. Painted in a sunshine yellow, the timber kitchen wraps around the entire room making it feel like a real hub of the home, alongside the navy blue Aga cooker.

There is a small extension through French doors from the kitchen with a garden room with an orangery-style roof light, perfect for growing seedlings, as well as a cosy library room. There’s also a hot press and a small utility here, with a back door onto the garden.

Rounding out this floor, there’s a shower room off the hall and a sizeable amount of storage under the stairs.

Upstairs are four bedrooms and the family bathroom. Two of the rooms are large doubles, both looking onto the front garden. The other two are slightly smaller doubles, all of which have been built into the eaves of the house and the country charm is extended throughout with low sash windows in every room.

The gardens are delightful and very manageable with plenty of privacy thanks to a mature hedge along the boundary and there’s ample room for parking.
