This country lodge in Co Kerry features a cosy family room with natural materials

This cosy family room was designed for a modern country lodge in Co Kerry by Studio Brazil Interiors. Drawing inspiration from the surrounding landscape, the project incorporates earthy tones and soft textures.

This gorgeous country lodge is nestled on the edge of an estuary, where overgrown grasses are scattered across dense marshland.

However, its interior is far from quaint. The heart of the house is its bespoke family den room, where one can retreat after a long day in the outdoors.

When drawing up the plan for this space, Studio Brazil Interiors selected warm, earthy tones, designing the den to reflect the countryside seen through its illuminating windows.

The room focuses on a recessed fire in the traditional manner and features a dark, glazed tile backdrop with custom, dark panelling above, housing a wide screen TV and bookshelves. This, combined with the linen L-shaped couch, textured cotton armchair and large leather ottoman, creates a homely atmosphere.

The space is finished with natural materials, including the wide board, oiled oak timber flooring, tweed covered sofas and a soft woolen rug.

Ideal for families, the room makes clever use of storage space, discreetly hidden beneath the wraparound window seat and wall panelling.

Ambient lighting with recessed LED’s, sleek wall lights and textured Roman blinds manipulate light to enhance the crafted wall panelling and joinery.

From start to finish, this creative design is beautifully brought to life, mirroring its natural surroundings with subtle, aesthetic elements to exist as a functional and relaxing family den.

The below is a break down of the furnishings and materials used for this project:

  • Furniture – L-shape sofa, armchair, pouffe, side table (Camerich)
