This Home of the Year apartment in Kilmainham is on the market for €350,000

The two-bed apartment has been turned into a cool, calm space by its current owner, and appeared on the RTÉ show earlier this year.

If you watched this year’s Home of the Year on RTÉ, you will probably remember 6, The Orchard as one of the contestants. With a pared-back palette and an eye for beautiful details, its art director owner Mark O’Neill has shown how to create a calm yet cool space.

It’s also not the only home from this year’s show to go up for sale, as this Portobello one was also put on the market.

You enter the apartment into a small hallway, which Mark has made the most of with a smart radiator cover that doubles as a shelf, and a black wall light brightening up the space. Around the corner, a wall mounted desk turns what could have been wasted space into a work area, complemented by a rounded pendant light.

The main space in the apartment is the open plan living, kitchen and dining space. It is bright thanks to a large window at one end and double doors opening to the balcony at the other, while white floors and walls help to accentuate the natural light.

The black units and appliances in the kitchen complement the minimalist colour scheme, and there is space for a dining table that seats four comfortably. The balcony provides another space to relax, and looks out to a canopy of trees.

There are two double bedrooms, one ensuite, and a bathroom. The main bedroom has a floor-to-ceiling window that looks out to the balcony, as well as built-in wardrobes, while the ensuite has a black-framed shower that works well in the space.

The second bedroom is well-sized, and also has built-in storage. Throughout the home, the consistent colour palette helps everything feel cohesive and serene, and shows Mark’s meticulous  attention to detail.

Situated close to The Royal Hospital Kimainham, IMMA, and the Phoenix Park, buzzy neighbourhoods like Stoneybatter, and within walking distance of the city centre, this home is also in an undoubtedly great location for enjoying the best of city life.
