The tiny home movement has taken over Instagram as of late, from people converting incredibly small sites into full-time abodes, to those going on the road with a van, which has spawned its own hashtag, #vanlife, if you’re interested. In the current housing climate, plenty of people are turning to small homes and caravans as a cheap and more sustainable way to live, so long as you do it right.
However, if you’re looking for something less aspirational and more practical when it comes to your little home, there are a few Irish and international accounts worth a follow.
If you want to know but aren’t sure where to begin, this account is a good follow. It’s got a huge range of small homes and everything from some incredible properties to drool over to more practical home ideas for those living in tight quarters. @tinyhousemovement
If you’re looking to follow a single project from beginning to end, this fab little trailer on Vancouver Island has a little bit of everything. Construction and layout design as well as interiors inspiration and DIY tips, they have documented their journey of building their dream tiny home from start to finish.
It also features an adorable Vizsla pup named Murphy, which, in my eyes at least, is a huge bonus. @westcoasttinyhome
This account is perfect for interior design ideas, colour palettes for a small home or apartment and will really broaden your mind as to what you can do with your tiny home.
Pulling inspiration from across the world, it’s a lovely feed to follow even if you’re not yet in your own place. @apartmenttherapy
If you follow the Image Interiors & Living Instagram account, you probably already know how in love we are with this slow living cabin, carriage and camping park in Norfolk.
Beautifully restored cabins and old train carriages have been converted into weekend stays using as much natural and reclaimed materials as possible. Jo, the owner, has such a deftness of touch with all of the interiors that each one makes you want to hole up in there forever. @settlenorfolk
This Dublin apartment run by homeowner Mark is one of our favourite Instagrams for a relaxing peruse. It’s a beautiful, simplified space that is clean and calm, while also being warm and inviting. Great for inspiration if you’re looking for a Scandinavian mid-century feel that isn’t too cold. @mark__t
