IMAGE.ie interiors columnist Vogue Williams shares the Italian inspired interiors to elevate your home, from chic chandeliers to striped sun chairs.
I have just finished Ripley on Netflix starring Andrew Scott who is beyond amazing in it. I want him to be my new best friend – I reckon we are all in that boat. I also heard he’s sound in real life so that adds to my love of his work! I adored the cinematography but mostly I loved the interiors in Ripley. I mean, Italians are chic, we all know that, but they have such an amazing architectural and interior style that I cannot get enough of. I’m going to Rome soon for a wedding and can’t wait to walk around drooling over the amazing buildings. I’m hoping my hotel will have full White Lotus vibes.
Italy is steeped in culture and art, it’s colourful and fun and Italians are naturally stylish. I realise we do not have the same Mediterranean vibes in Ireland but I have found some pieces I think could work in any home. You can bring Italy to your house without it looking completely insane in the setting.
The first thing on my list is this incredible sofa from Soho Home. I have no place for it but my husband and I keep saying we are getting it for our next house because we love it so much! The olive green and the oak veneer panels are so beautiful.
I came across this Irish brand Cófra Furniture recently and spent ages on their site browsing. I love this reeded oak sideboard cabinet, it looks more expensive than it is and is a piece of furniture I feel will never date.
If you have read my column before you will know my love for a stripe, it seeps into my wardrobe at times too and I have been called a deckchair on many occasions. I take it as a compliment and I do look exactly like a deckchair which to me is chic AF. I can imagine these Business and Pleasure Co. deck chairs on an Italian beach or in Ralph Lauren’s mansion in the Hampton’s. I like that they fold because let’s be honest we don’t get the weather too often in Ireland but when we do we can bronze away on these.
Bryan O’Sullivan Studio would be all over my house if I had my way and some deeper pockets! I have earmarked this mirror for my birthday present in October, I have had this and their floor-length mirror on my wish list for a long time. It’s like a piece of art that you can admire yourself in if you so wish!
I always struggled with lighting before I started doing up my place in Howth and I now know so many brands that have amazing pieces. This Talia chandelier has rich Italian written all over it. It would be such a great focal point in any home. I have another one of theirs coming to my home soon and will get snaps and post them in my next article, even if you don’t have a need for new lighting go to their site and have a look, it’s a feast for the eyes.
I came across this delicious bed from Diamond Furniture. I love how it’s curved and the high headboard makes it look super expensive. I actually wanted a table from Diamond for my house which had very Italian vibes with dark marble and wood but I ended up reusing one I already had.
I think with summer being here it’s so nice to think of lots of colour particularly outside and that is what an Italian does best. I’m off to dream about wandering through Positano with a gelato in my hand ready to park up on a beautiful striped deck chair.
