21st Mar 2022
Mother's Day is this Sunday, so consider this your pre-weekend reminder to get a card together and give your mammy a call.
We Make Good
Firm believers that beauty lies both in the story of how a product is made as well as in its design, We Make Good work with a variety of different makers around Ireland – all from marginalised backgrounds – and their greeting cards are so beautiful, you’ll want to frame them.
Moonpig
Designist
It’s true what they say, a mother’s work is never done and making sure we never get notions is a full-time job in and of itself! We may leave the immersion on from time to time (no one’s perfect), but we’ll never forget from whence we came and for that, we’re grateful.
April & The Bear
Some shops opt for colourful cartoonised cards, April & The Bear let their words do the talking – and their beautiful collection of printed cards speak volumes. Each one is initially hand-drawn and made using only the poshest of paper (as expected) and a traditional printing technique with a hot foil press to create the rose gold foil message you see below.
Maktus
From cute to sappy to slightly irreverent, Maktus has all kinds of cards to suit all kinds of mums. Their quirky inventory of gifts is also a great place to pick up a few ideas if the traditional bouquet of flowers needs upgrading this year – personal favourites include the notions mug, the toast tongs and the Frida Kahlo plant pot.
Mean Mail Cards
Mean Mail Cards; beautiful cards, brutal words. Created by Vicky Simmons, an art director with a penchant for brutal honesty and eye rolls, her designs may seem cut-throat, but they’re well-intentioned… so be sure to stress that part.
