Figuring out what to wear to work in the morning is never an easy task – let this year's New York Fashion Week street style guide you.

Monochrome

Trust Lisa Rinna to nail it.

Don’t get me wrong, colour certainly has its place but monochrome always looks incredibly chic. The key here is to choose pieces with contrasting textures – a cable knit jumper and a wool skirt complement each other nicely, breaking an outfit up just enough to create interest. Add in a pair of knee-high boots and some bold-framed glasses to tie the whole look together.

Double denim

For a more business casual look, you can’t go wrong with denim on denim. Stick to a darker wash in a bootcut or wide-leg silhouette – indigo is great for autumn – and pair your jeans with a coordinating button-up for a fully cohesive look. A trench coat and some sunnies and you’re good to go.

A midi skirt

Midi skirts are a great addition to any wardrobe and will work hard no matter the season. Leather works great in autumn, particularly when paired with bright colours as done here. Accessorise with some statement earrings and a pair of comfortable flats. If the weather doesn’t play ball, just throw on some tights and a cardi.

An oversized blazer

If in doubt, an oversized blazer always makes for a great starting point when putting together an office-appropriate outfit. Play with proportions and see what works best for you – generally, if you’re wearing something bigger on top, sticking to more figure-hugging silhouettes underneath helps balance things out, like a tank top tucked into belted trousers.
