5 trending boot styles to try this autumn

Everyone needs a good pair of boots for autumn. Here are five trending styles to try this season.

Biker boots

Biker boots are a great transitional shoe meaning you can wear them all year round if you so choose. In summer, they pair surprisingly well with satin slip dresses – their buckles and chunky soles the perfect complement to lacy fabrics in pretty pastels; in autumn/winter, wear them with patterned tights and a micro mini to let them really do the talking.

Ugg boots

I’ve made my thoughts on Ugg boots abundantly clear, but it seems I am alone in my dislike of the cult shoe as their popularity persists. Undoubtedly all part of the resurgence of Y2k trends, there was a time when Ugg boots were once considered highly cherished commodities. If you didn’t have a pair, you wanted them desperately; and if you did, you were the envy of all. However, while it was the slightly taller versions that were most saught after in my youth, nowadays the mini Uggs reign supreme.

Metallic boots

First metallic trousers took off, now it’s all about shiny footwear. Low effort but high impact, a pair of tinfoil-inspired shoes will add just the right amount of pizazz to an outfit – they’re great talking points too so expect plenty of compliments.

Knee-high boots

Knee-high boots have long been an autumnal staple and this year’s style forecast predicts more of the same. Wear them with mini skirts, midi skirts, dresses, trousers, jeans… whatever you want really. If you’ve tired of the knee-high trend, thigh-highs are just as popular – finding a pair that fits will take time but it’s worth it when you can wear them under an oversized blazer in lieu of trousers.

Micro heels

Usually, even the mention of the word ‘heels’ would make me break out in a sweat but the micro heels trend is a much more manageable take on things. Essentially kitten-heeled boots, they don’t sound like they should work and yet, somehow, they do.
