5 trending spring staples

5 trending spring staples

From light jackets to silk trousers, these are the trending spring staples to see you through to summer.

A cardi

Layers are a must when it comes to building a functional spring-friendly wardrobe and a good cardi will help you do that. Bridging the gap between chilly mornings and warmer afternoons, they’re both comfortable and stylish. Opt for neutrals if you want one that will go with everything or choose one in a bright colour to make a statement. At CPHFW, the fashion set wore them draped over their shoulders.

Satin trousers

Looser satin trousers are a great investment. By day, you’ll wear them with oversized T-shirts and your favourite trainers. By night, a silky top and a pair of heels dress them up just the right amount.

A waistcoat

Smart yet casual, a waistcoat will cinch you in in all the right places. Wear with your favourite maxi skirt and ballet flats or, a pair of denim shorts when the weather gets warmer.

A poplin shirt

Over the past few years, the poplin shirt has surged in popularity – shedding its reputation as stuffy office attire and rebranding as a Cool Girl style staple. As good unbuttoned over a white tank top as it is with black dress pants, you’ll wear and rewear yours to death this season (the sign of a good investment).

 A light jacket

Leaving the house without a jacket feels unnatural. I’d love to take the sunshine at its word but I know better – blue skies are changeable and it’s quite likely we’ll get more than one season in a day. Whether you reach for a trench coat, a bomber or your trusty leather number, bringing a light jacket with you is just good sense.
