Roisín Lawless, founder of Chipped, the new nail subscription bar at the Powerscourt Centre, Dublin 2, shares her tips and tricks for the nail trends to try and love this spring.

What’s new in nails for spring?

Bright reds and oranges, metallics (gold, silver, rose gold), coloured French tips and minimalist nail art, try cuticle nail art or a negative space.

Is nail art returning? If so, what do your clients ask for?

Nail art will always remain current but in the current fashion and beauty industry, less is more. People will ask for nail art, but usually something classy and simple.

CND Vinylux in Wildfire

Your hero nail products?

Solar Oil is enriched with jojoba oil and vitamin E, so use that twice daily to get stronger, healthier nails and hydrated cuticles. Vinylux is a great alternative to Shellac – it lasts up to 7 days, comes in all the Shellac colours and is removed with regular nail polish remover.

What products are good for nail health, and what should I do?

Solar Oil is god! RidgeFX is great for people with ridges. It has microspheres that fill in the ridges to create a smooth surface for polish.

CND Shellac in Winter Nights

What’s the most frequently asked for style and shades at the moment?

Soft square is popular for short nails and a ballerina shape for longer nails or extensions. Shellac in Winter Nights has been our most requested colour this season it is a cool toned navy that suits almost everyone.
