Between only having a tiny plastic bag for your liquid essentials and not wanting to weigh down your case, packing beauty essentials is hard. Ahead of her appearance at the Image Beauty Festival in May, travel journalist and beauty expert Nadia El Ferdaoussi gives her five best packing hacks…
Brown down
The number of products we use on our eyebrows has been steadily increasing, so I like to pare back when I travel by using Maybelline’s Brow Tattoo.
It’s like a tint that you paint on and then peel off after 20 minutes. It lasts three days, so for short trips I don’t even need to bring it with me.
Lash lift
I use a similar trick for my lashes by having LVL treatment before I go away. Your lashes are lifted at the root and then tinted, so I can leave my eyelash curler at home and get away with not having to apply mascara.
If I want more of a statement look I’ll have mink lashes applied by Olivia Fitzsimons Beauty pre-trip.
SPF superhero
I take sun protection really seriously and only ever use P20. The once-a-day application means you use less product, so I don’t have to pack as many heavy liquids.
They’ve launched a new face specific cream, but I’ve been using the lotion for face and body for years with no issues. It’s definitely my summer skin saviour.
Double jobbing
Multi-purpose beauty products are my favourite, saving precious space in my make-up bag. I’ll use a coral cream blush that doubles as a lip colour and a warm powder bronzer that can be used as eyeshadow as well as contour.
You can use your cheek highlighter on your eyes too.
Sample savers
I always pop into my local beauty counter to get samples of the newest releases in foundations before I go on holidays. I ask for one shade to match my skin colour as it is and one darker in case I get a tan.
The sample pots are tiny, so they save loads of space and I’ll have the right shade for the entire trip (you can blend the two together for the perfect match too). It’s a win win!
