We caught up with some of Ireland’s top make-up artists to find out what lipsticks they’re wearing and why. Here are their top recommendations.
It’s officially February. At. Last.
After what felt like the longest, darkest January ever, we plan to indulge in some colourful TLC; and to us, TLC comes in the form of make-up. Specifically, lipstick.
With our IMAGE Business of Beauty Awards 2019 just around the corner, we caught up with four of Ireland’s top make-up artists to find out what lipsticks they’re wearing and why.
Each of these artists is truly a master of their trade, and with years of experience under their belts, we value their recommendations completely. And so, their top five lipsticks are…
MAC Lipstick in Ruby Woo
€20 from Brown Thomas
Cork-based make-up artist Laurence Keating says, “for colour, texture, and ability to customize,” Ruby Woo is a must-have product. It has the impressive ability to dress up any look (regardless of what other make-up you’re wearing, if any), and according to Laurence, it’s “iconic”. We’re inclined to agree.
Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G in Penelope Pink
€32 from Charlotte Tilbury
If nude lips are more your thing, make-up artist Kirstie Murphy swears by Charlotte Tilbury’s “perfect” Penelope Pink. Not only are the dusty, pink undertones pretty and feminine, but the formula is also sumptuously smooth. No dry lips here, thank you very much.
Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips in Tell Laura
€32 from Brown Thomas
Or, if you prefer a bright, pop of colour, Kirstie also recommends the shade Tell Laura. Part of the ‘Hot Lips’ collection by Charlotte Tilbury, this lipstick has “light-diffusing pigments for pert, full-bodied, ultra-brilliant lips”.
Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté Shine Lipstick
€34 from Debenhams
For make-up artist Judy Wong, it has to be YSL. The formula is infused with six sensorial oils, ensuring your lips stay hydrated and the colour glides on with ease. Shades are available from semi-sheer to intense; and as Judy says, the packaging is lush too.
Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution in Pillowtalk
€28.80 from FeelUnique.eu
Lastly, but by no means least, make-up artist Leanne Nugent gives the nod to Pillowtalk by Charlotte Tilbury. This nude pink is designed to enhance the natural hue of your lips, while the formula is enriched with soothing orchid and Lipstick Tree extracts.
MAC Liptensity in Smoked Almond
€22 from Brown Thomas
“My all-time favourite lipstick colour is Smoked Almond Liptensity lipstick by Mac. It’s such a versatile colour depending on the liner you match it with, and the colour payoff is off the charts,” says make-up artist John Bowes.
