Executive producer of Virgin Media’s XPOSÉ and one of Image Magazine’s Creative Businesswoman of the Year winners, Debbie O’Donnell shares her expertly curated beauty loves…
“First thing I do when I get up is moisturise. My skin is particularly dry at this time of the year with the heating and fire on 24/7. Since having my two boys, my skin has changed a lot, the older I get the drier my skin gets. Serum is a big part of my morning routine too. But THE single most important part of my morning routine is sun block, no matter what the weather. The pocket size La Roche-Posay SPF 50+ never leaves my handbag, I like it because there is no residue under my foundation while other SPFs create a white hue under your makeup.”
Cleanser: Glossier Milk Jelly Cleanser
Moisturiser: Lancôme Absolu Precious Cells Day Cream which has a built-in SPF15 and La Mer Cool Gel Cream
Serum: Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum or Kiehl’s Daily Reviving Concentrate
Mask: The Shiseido Waso purifying off mask (my nod to J beauty)
Hand cream: Chanel’s La Crème Main Texture Riche which has the coolest bottle
Sun block: La Roche-Posay SPF 50+
1 Glossier Milk Jelly Cleanser, from €9
2 Shiseido Waso Purifying Peel-Off Mask, €35
3 Chanel La Crème Main Texture Riche, €56
“My top skincare tip is to start wearing sunblock under your foundation – as young as you can. The higher the factor the better. If someone had told me this tip when I was in my teens then I’d be looking 10 years younger (well, five anyway!). Don’t take for granted that your foundation (or tinted moisturiser) has SPF built-in, always check the bottle.”
Foundation: Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation. I like this foundation because I don’t like full coverage on my skin and this allows my skin to breathe.
Primer: Controversially I use MAC Strobe Cream as a primer
Mascara: Benefit’s Bad Gal Bang and Max Factor Volume Infusion Mascara
Liner: Since I’ve been a teen, one of my main makeup staples has been liquid eyeliner. My favourite is Boots No 7 Stay Perfect Liquid Liner
Brushes: The AYU Brush Set, super soft
Concealer: NARS Matte Concealer in the handbag-friendly pot, this is my gold star concealer. A winner on every level. I also love the Charlotte Tilbury retoucher pen one
Blush: NARS Liquid Blush in Orgasm, it’s easier and faster to apply than before
Highlighter: YSL Touche Éclat Shimmer Stick and the Carter Beauty Blaze Mini Highlighter Palette
Lipstick: JLO x Inglot Matte Nude lipstick. I love this collaboration.
Lipgloss: The ‘Debbie’ nude lipgloss from Carter Beauty, I love it!
“Never forget your concealer! I don’t leave the house without at least two in my bag, in my car and at my desk. If I have a late night or a particularly early morning then concealer is my best friend, it hides a multitude and deletes any signs of tiredness.”
Shampoo: With thick and coarse hair Kérastase has always been my go-to, the Densifique Bain Densité is particularly good
Conditioner: Kevin Murphy Blonde Angel
Hairspray: Sam McKnight Modern Hairspray
Styling spray: Aveda Speed of Light blow-dry accelerator spray
Brushes: GHD’s paddle travel brush, beautiful for unruly hair like mine
Tools: The Dyson Airwrap, it’s revolutionary
“If there’s one product I’ve a soft spot for its Bumble & Bumble’s Surf Spray, it actually does create that ‘just out of bed’ tousled look, I promise! It’s handy because everyone in the family can use it, I spray it on my boys’ hair when we’re on holidays it creates a beachy look.”
