Greek-Irish contemporary art curator and brand consultant Katie Tsouros founded the massively successful Artfetch, and is now building her jewellery empire with her latest venture, Akaterina. Here, I got the inside scoop on her personal beauty loves…
“My day to day routine is pretty minimal, and it also tends to change a bit. I’m not terribly loyal to products or brands and I like to try different things,” says Katie.
“I’m lucky that I have inherited my mum’s great Mediterranean skin, just with a few more freckles. I rarely wear make-up, especially as I work from home most of the time, so that also helps maintain my healthy skin. I save it for mostly for certain meetings or events or when I am going out.”
IMAGE Beauty Festival: From Patrick Ta to Vogue Williams… here’s what to expect
“At the moment I am using Pestle & Mortar eye cream, hyaluronic serum and moisturiser every day after my shower. My favourite new product I have just got is the Bisococo Coconut Rose Face Mist – it’s all natural and feels so nurturing. I keep it in the bathroom and just give a little spritz every now and then for a pick me up.”
Cleanser – The Botanics All Bright range
Moisturiser – Pestle & Mortar Hydrate Lightweight Moisturiser, Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream or La Roche Posay Toleriane Sensitive Creme
Serum – Pestle & Mortar hyaluronic serum
Eye cream – Pestle & Mortar
Mask – When I used to get spots I used the Clinique Anti Blemish Solutions clay mask and it was amazing. I would like to find a nice glowy mask now though…
Body – Bisococo coconut oil
Lip Balm – Bisococo
Facial Mist – Bisococo Coconut Rose Mist
Bisococo Coconut Rose Face Mist, €18.50
“I love all the Bisococo range because it’s completely natural and feels really gentle. The face mist has a lovely scent and the lip balm is so super moisturising. It also all comes really nicely branded and packaged, which I’m a sucker for, and it’s pretty good value. Their Instagram is also dreamy.”
“My mother always told me less is more, so I do live by that rule. I would say try and give your skin some make up free breathing time as much as possible, I know it’s not for everyone but I love how it makes my skin feel to just be free.”
Foundation – Laura Mercier Illuminating Tinted Moisturiser
Primer – MAC Strobe Cream
Mascara – Maybelline Colossal Volume
Liner – Rimmel Exaggerate liquid liner and Benefit Badgal pencil eyeliner
Palette/eyeshadow – I used to always get Urban Decay in Chopper and Smog. I also just bought a new MAC Shiny Pretty Shadow in Put U On Gold.
Powder – Laura Mercier Sheer Perfection powder
Brushes – Have an Isadora bronzer brush that I love
Other – Bobbi Brown bronzer and Benefit High Beam (have been using them for years) – essentially my whole make-up routine hasn’t changed much since I was a teenager, which either means I was really good at make-up when I was really young, or I look ridiculous!
Maybelline Colossal Volum’Express, €9.99
“I have loved Maybelline Colossal mascara forever, they used to do an amazing one with white at one end that went on first and then the black on top – still so sad they don’t have that anymore. But I think for all the fancy, expensive mascaras you can buy, Maybelline has always been the best.”
“I like to go light on the skin but dramatic on the eyes. I hate the feeling of being “caked” – but I’m all about everything glowy and sparkly and love highlighters and bringing up colour with bronzer. For eyes on a big night out, the smokier the better, and ALWAYS strong eyebrows.”
Shampoo – Kevin Murphy Young Again
Conditioner – Kevin Murphy Young Again
Hairspray – Anything going
Texture spray – John Frieda Frizz Ease Dream Curls
“I don’t use a lot of hair products because I find they make my hair greasy. But I absolutely love everything by Kevin Murphy – it’s such a treat. Whenever I get the shampoo and conditioner it feels like the most precious thing I have. It’s so light and your hair is just so soft after using it. I also like a light sea salt spray or something similar to bring out my curls in summer.”
What’s your top hair tip?
“I think good shampoo and conditioner makes the world of difference – but I don’t always indulge myself. It’s probably silly when I spend so much money on colour, but it feels like such an indulgence.”
