As I embark on a treacherous journey towards platinum blonde (fear not, it’s likely that I will stop off at caramel and balayage for some much-needed respite along the way), I’ve been told by more than a few people that I should think twice about taking this daring plunge, what with the fact that I’m the proud owner of two (thankfully, not one) dark, ominous eyebrows. So dark are my caterpillars, when I decide to start with their application during my make-up routine before the mascara has gone on to balance them out, I’m quite capable of giving my boyfriend a terrible fright. If I joined them in the middle, I’d be ready to rock as a Frida Kahlo impersonator.

But for those, like me, who were born with dark eyebrows, as well as dark hair where the sun don’t shine (not to mention the delightful shadow cast by my evergreen moustache – or everblack, I should say) opting for a bright blonde mane should still be an option. If Kim Kardashian can pull it off, so can we. Even if it’s just for a short time, or to find out whether or not blondes really do have more fun. And no, just because you opt for a cooler shade of blonde as opposed to more golden, warming hues, does not mean that you need to start filling in your brows with a light brown, orangey shadow. If you’re trying to keep things looking natural, that’s not the way to do it. With bright blonde locks and dark eyebrows, you need to surrender to the fact that it sure as hell won’t look natural, but that doesn’t mean it won’t look good.

For some necessary #inspo, here we round up a gallery of blonde beauties, all of whom are sporting some serious, power-woman-in-the-80s style brows.
