The smokey eye is enjoying a high fashion resurgence after Balmain’s recent sibling campaign reminded us why we love the dark and cloudy kohl.

While the Jenner sisters grabbed all the headlines – it was Kylie’s first ?proper? fashion job – Bella and Gigi Hadid were on point with their blow dries and 1980s power lady femme fatale eyes. In a era where editorials everywhere are trying to convince us that minimal is the goal and a neon liner slick should be every girl’s go-to, it’s a relief to see the most doable and instantly glamourous smokey eye be put back on its sexy pedestal. Check out the gallery for some runway inspiration from recent seasons to have a file for when Friday night rolls around.

And we even have a tutorial video from Ellie Balfe to help you get started.
