All the talk at the Balmain Fashion Week show was of hair swapping, Insta-models and fashion, but the make-up also caught our eye. While runway make-up can often be very costume-like, Kendall Jenner managed to make a statement with bold brows and very soft nudes around her eyes – perfect for daily wear and right on trend for S/16. Another key aspect of this look was keeping the hair natural, in loose waves. Polished and understated was the aim of the Balmain beauty look. Here, we give you tips on the go-to products you can use to re-create this at home:
For luminous skin, look no further than Chanel’s Chanel Vitalumie’re Aqua, €40. This ultra-light formula glides onto the skin effortlessly and brings a gentle warmth to the complexion – perfect for spring. It’s water-based so it will hydrate the skin without leaving you with an oily finish.
For the eyes, you’ll need an eyeshadow palette with a mixture of pinks and brown, preferably with matte options. At the moment, we’re loving Penney’s latest Nude Eyes palette, €5. With a mixture of matte and shimmer/iridescent shades and all you need to create that on-trend nude/brown smoky eye, this is the ideal option for subtle, sexy Balmain eyes.
L?Ore?al Paris Volume Million Lashes Feline Mascara, €16.99 is just what you need to coat your lashes. Flexible and glossy, despite the fact that you can layer up this product. Also, a tip: opt for a brown eyeliner over a black one. This look is so soft and natural because a brown eyeliner was used over a black one. While black is the natural choice for most fashionistas, its effect is much more intense than a brown pencil. Brown is still flattering, but while just on the right side of flattering.
Finish the look off with a nude lip. MAC Patisserie Lipstick (?19.50) is a good shade choice.
Finally, your locks. If you have naturally straight or slightly wavy hair, simply air dry your hair. This Bumble and bumble Don’t Blow It, (?30) Creme will give give you lose, textured waves. If you have to create the curl, blow dry your hair first and then create bends by curling random sections with a curling iron.
