Green eyeliner is our first make-up obsession of 2019

Green eyeliner is our first make-up obsession of 2019

Although we are living on the Emerald Isle green is a colour we generally tend to avoid wearing. Nobody ever wants to look overly patriotic, but ironically it really suits the Irish complexion. The only time green comes anywhere near our faces is on St. Patrick’s Day in the form of a shamrock or ‘Kiss me I’m Irish’ emblazoned across a forehead, but Kendall Jenner has given us a serious lesson in how to do it well.

Kendall Jenner uploaded her NYE look on Instagram which had me instantly screen-shotting. Not only was her outfit worth taking notes on (PVC trousers and an acid green bardot top) but her make-up was perfectly co-ordinated. Instead of  the usual cat-eye with black liner, make-up artist Mary Philips used an acid green on Kendall’s eyes. Paired with her gorgeous sallow skin tone, OTT gold and green Balenciaga earrings and lashings of mascara it looked incredibly wearable.

Inspired to try this colour ourselves, we’ve done some searching for the perfect hue to experiment with;

NYX Professional Makeup Vivid Brights Eyeliner in Envy; €7.75 at boots.ie

Sugarpill Pro Pan Pressed Eyeshadow in Acid Berry; €6.65 at beautybay.com

When using eyeshadow as liner dampen a liner brush to get the colour as opaque as possible. You can do this with a little water or some MAC Fix Plus. This makes the shadow thicker, and far easier to get a nice clean line.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Freak; $21 at urbandecay.com

Despite the fact that ‘Living Coral’ has been announced as the colour of 2019, Pantone have also forecast some greens as big colours for the year ahead. ‘Pepper Stem’ is a zesty yellow green and we are seriously into it. Perhaps in 2019 we should embrace our national colour and get all patriotic on the eyes (just leave the shamrocks out until March please).
