Gwyneth Paltrow Shares Her Beauty Secrets

Love her or loathe her,?Gwyneth Paltrow’s bizarre lifestyle advice (steam cleaning our vaginas? Still never) and uncoupling ideas have a knack for sticking in the public subconscious. We’re secretly fascinated by her Goop ideology, and there’s little doubt that the Oscar-winning actress looks amazing, so when she divulged her beauty secrets to the New York Times, we were intrigued. She recently launched her own skincare line, Goop by Juice Beauty, so the star knows a thing or two about what makes a product work and it isn’t all based on organic ingredients from the rainforest; she likes to go back to basics, and cites her daughter, Apple as the make-up expert in her life.

When it comes to skincare, Paltrow loves a good facial oil and serum: “In general, I love serums and face oils and body oils. I’m a real oil kind of girl. There’s a myth that oil is not good for your skin. I don’t believe in that at all. In terms of clarifying masks, I use one by?May Lindstrom?and there’s a great one by Drunk Elephant?and I love?Tammy Fender body oil. Sometimes I’ll just use the organic coconut oil in my kitchen on my legs. When I’m on the go, I use Ursa Major face wipes,” she said.

I see now that life is really a balance. And it’s great to eat nutrient-dense organic food, if you can. It’s also really great to drink a vodka and have French fries

While she remains a traditionalist in some ways, some of her choices for keeping her skin in top condition are above-the-norm. “I’ve been stung by bees. It’s a thousands of years old treatment called apitherapy. People use it to get rid of inflammation and scarring. It’s actually pretty incredible if you research it. But, man, it’s painful.”

Paltrow prefers to go sans make-up during the day and says that she’s far from being a beauty expert, leaving that side of things to her 11-year-old daughter: ?”In the day, I generally don’t wear that much make-up. I usually use a little bit of Tata Harper or?RMS. Also Olio e Osso.I often go out with just mascara and a little cheek. I don’t use bronzer. You need a technique to use bronzer, highlighter and BB cream, all these things my daughter tells me about.”

And, yes, she is a mortal, prone to many bad hair days. “I generally use Shu Uemura shampoo and conditioner. I like a lot of the Japanese ones. I have dry, damaged, bleached hair, and they work for me. I put the Rodin by Recine hair oil on my ends.”
