Hollywood’s worst kept secret is, alas, no more. The cat’s been let out of the bag and 17 year old Kylie Jenner has finally admitted to getting lip fillers. We know, there are more important things going on in the world, but this has niggled away at us for MONTHS now. We knew there was more to that kisser than paranormal lip liner. Surely, if it was down to nothing more than some make-up trickery, we’d all be walking around with stick-on trout pouts, right? At least for a Saturday night on the tiles.
Here’s her most recent stance on the ‘did she, didn’t she’ debacle: ‘I feel like everyone has been talking about it for months, so I’m kind of sick of it… My pictures, I pout them out a lot. I think big lips are awesome… I love lip liner and over-lining my lips.’ ‘But I don’t even care anymore. I’m like whatever, just say whatever you want.’
It was not yet Kylie’s intention to let this slip, but on a teaser for the upcoming series of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Kylie’s older sister Khloe Kardashian urges her to come forward. At this stage, the only person she’s kidding is herself. Though we know Khloe means well, we can’t help but imagine a slight bit of big-sisterly-satisfaction at landing the young’un right in the thick of it. If nothing else, it’s good reality TV.
In fairness to Kylie, she never took a major stance against surgery, she simply said it wasn’t something she was interested in right now. On one hand, we understand why she’d keep it quiet – maybe she thought it would be better to blame the lip liner than influence kids the world over to ask their parents for permission to get injections or, worse, go under the knife? On the other, fans might find it upsetting (you know, the hardcore Kardashian fans, not this particular writer) that she, well, lied. Try as she might, she couldn’t even stop the #KylieJennerLipChallenge from taking over the world. Hopefully this will now put all speculation and experimentation to rest.
‘I have had temporary lip fillers,’ she says in an E! clip from Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
‘It’s just something that I wanted to do.’
Kylie explains that she ‘wasn’t ready’ to talk publicly about the treatments she’d had, instead preferrring to neither ‘confirm or deny’ it when asked by reporters at every turn. If there’s one thing they were going to ask her, it would always be this.
‘My heart literally dropped. They were like…’ ‘They asked you?’ Khloe, 30, responds. ‘Yeah,’ the teenager says, ‘They were like, “So all this lip talk. You know like tell… how do you feel about it?” I was like “ahhhhh”.’
‘Kylie decided to plump her lips and I don’t think there is anything wrong with that. ‘I think if you’ve done something though, it is right to cop up to it. If you avoid the question you’re gonna look like a liar’ says Khloe to camera.
Do you think it’s Kylie’s prerogative to have lip fillers if she so wishes or do you feel strongly that it’s not something that should be allowed until a person is over the age of 18 or 21?
