Lisa Eldridge, the Queen of make-up artists, announced yesterday that she will be launching her own make-up range (squeal!).
For those who’ve been die-hard fans of hers, this is a long time coming. With a host of celebrity clientele (Kate Winslet is a personal friend), you would think Eldridge was most-famous for daring editorial looks like Val Garland and Pat McGrath. Instead, it is the popularity of her blog and YouTube channel, where she creates really wearable looks, that resonate with people most. Eldridge is best known for her light touch and ability to gradually build-on product that makes her a master of the fresh and flawless make-up look.
The announcement of her position as Global Creative Director for Lancôme a couple of years ago put to bed any questions of her releasing her own products for some time. However, yesterday she announced that she would be creating her own line of lipsticks. It is not specified yet if Eldridge will continue working with Lancôme, as her own range will be launched and sold on her own website, lisaeldridge.com.
So far we know there will be three lipsticks released, with no teasing if this will be expanded in the future to include other products. A lover of a red lip, the lipstick’s are all in differing shades of crimson, which can be applied boldly, as a soft blur, or worked into the lips as a stain. The texture is described as a velvet matte finish which, for red, is a great formulation as it will have amazing staying power. An avid vintage make-up collector, it’s no surprise the packaging is deliciously retro. A classy gold bullet, with her signature engraved on top. Simple and classic, this is one you’ll be dying to reapply on the DART.
Velvet Morning is a zingy, orangey red. Perfect for sallow skin tones, and is a great summer version of a red lip.
Velvet Jazz is a brick red, with more of a brown undertone. This is a great option if you’re slightly afraid of wearing red as it isn’t too bright.
Velvet Ribbon is a classic, blue-toned red. My personal favourite, this a real retro, 1950’s colour which looks amazing on pale skin tones, also making teeth look whiter. With a release date of November 19th at lisaeldridge.com, we would take note. At £26 they are sure to sell out quickly and are the perfect addition to your Christmas party look.
