Having natural deodorant issues? I was too, until I figured out what I was doing wrong. Here are some tricks for making sure yours works (because you’ll love it when it does!)
With lots of controversy surrounding the use of aluminium in deodorants and antiperspirants, more and more people are opting to go fully natural when choosing theirs.
What natural deodorants do that differs from ones that contain aluminium, is that they neutralise the bacteria in your sweaty areas rather than blocking up your sweat glands. They keep you smelling good with naturally fragrances, so you don’t have to worry about how you smell which the neutralisation is happening.
There’s no definitive scientific evidence to say it directly causes illnesses, but science has shown it does block the body’s normal sweating function, which many people think is a bad thing.
If you’re changing over to a natural deodorant and after a few days you think it’s not working, the same thing happened to me. What needs to happen, before the product starts working, is that your body needs to detox from using other non-natural deodorants, so it might take three or four days before the natural deodorant will take effect.
Basically, give it time, persist, and you’ll smell great and feel better within the week.
There are three natural deodorants I’ve tried and found really good – I love a coconut fragrance so the Indeora one and the Warrior Botanicals one were ideal, but the unisex fragrance of the Modern Botany one was as nice as some perfumes I’ve used. I think scent is key when choosing, it’s how you’ll smell after all.
