For make-up lovers, the ‘camp’ theme for this years Met Gala couldn’t have been better. With one of the many definitions of camp including the words ostentatious, exaggerated, affected and theatrical, we expected the beauty looks to be fun and outrageous. We were not disappointed, here’s our pick of the best…
Glitter

What’s more camp than glitter? Sophie Turner didn’t shy away from the sparkle and went for shimmering sapphire eyes and didn’t stop there. We love her wet-look glittery hair.
We weren’t quite sure where to look first when Lupita Nyong’o stepped out onto the Met Gala carpet. Once we had taken in her outlandish ruffled wings we were able to absorb her amazing make-up.

Lupita jumped on the theme and went with major drag queen eyes, complete with super high arched brows and lots of glitter. Hair was high and towering, like Marie Antoinette, paired with gold afro combs at the front and a smattering of coloured stars clipped into the back.
Spiky lashes
There is almost too much to talk about with Gaga, her choreographed entrance, but four outfit changes and draping herself on the steps in her underwear are a good place to start.
Just when we thought her look couldn’t have been more extra we spotted the insane false lashes she had on. Gold and spiky, they fanned out from her upper and lower lash line. Paired with bubblegum lips and a short blond bob (complete with bunches at the top) she looked like a futuristic Barbie, how very camp.
Gigi Hadid also embraced the spiky lash look, with white, dangerous looking lashes framing her eyes. Everything else was kept pared back and groomed, with bronzed flawless skin and a nude lip letting her eyes to all the talking.
Otherworldly beauty
Lucy Boynton and make-up artist Jo Baker are a combination we will never tire of. Boynton is now a firm IMAGE favourite when it comes to awards season, and for the Met we knew she’d deliver a stellar beauty look. Looking very tonal with her dress and matching hair combo. she looked almost mermaid-esque.
Small diamonds were placed at the end of some lashes, as well as strips of diamonds fanning out
Her lashes are always a big feature in any of her beauty looks, and this was no exception. Small diamonds were placed at the end of some lashes, as well as strips of diamonds fanning out around her eyes. Just gorgeous.
Priyanka Chopra looked like a beautiful ice queen on the pink carpet yesterday evening. This look was all big hair and big eyes, with white, frosty lashes against a deep pink shadow on the lid. The look was finished off with a dark berry lip and a smattering of icy gems.
60s vibes
With Collins captioning this look “more is more is more”, she clearly got the camp memo. With the bouffant 60s hair adorned with flowers, perfect porcelain skin and the exaggerated eye make-up she looked like a little doll. We also need to this eyeshadow shade ASAP.

Hailey Bieber also decided to go for a 60s look and she looked flawless. Hair was slicked back into a high pony, complete with a retro flick at the ends and a big velvet bow. Her make-up was classically 60s with a feline flick on the eyes and a nude lip. We also loved the frosty highlight high up on cheekbones.
Golden goddesses
Billy Porter gave Cleopatra herself a run for her money with his look aptly described as ‘Old Testament Realness’. His eye make-up was dazzling, created using Pat McGrath products, and layered with sequins and glitter. What’s not to love about this? It’s camp perfection.
For more achievable golden goddess vibes look no further than Patrick Ta’s look he created for Candice Swanepoel. With his own range of dedicated products to achieve glowing, shimmery skin, it’s no wonder Swanepoel looks positively luminescent on the pink carpet.
