The trending mini French manicure to screenshot for your next nail appointment

Along with the Juicy tracksuit, the scrunchie and the anklet, the French manicure nail trend is ready for its modern revival.

The French manicure has come a long way. What was once the nail art du jour for you at school, when you applied a thick line of Tippex to your nails during class or the chunky talon style from Victoria Beckham’s WAG days, has had a modern renaissance.

There’s every style imaginable, from the abstract swabs seen by Sigourney Nunez, the delicate modern take on a classic French manicure that Rosie Huntington-Whiteley loves or the micro lines of neon seen all over your Instagram.

Want to try it out yourself but don’t think you have the steady-handed skills required? Look to the elegant gold dotted line by nail artist Harriet Westmoreland, who is our go-to for inspiration if you fancy some ideas for the extra thin micro French manicure.

A final note: don’t think that because your nails are short, you can’t have French. Just because you don’t have a natural free edge (that little smile line on your nails) doesn’t mean you can’t paint one on, as you’ll see in the pictures below.

Screenshot your favourites from the selection below to take to your long-awaited nail appointment.
