Three truly brilliant masks for three different budgets

Three truly brilliant masks for three different budgets

It’s Monday, there’s a storm outside, you’re probably exhausted from the weekend’s exertions. Masks to the rescue! Throw one on and all will feel a little more manageable, I say. Here are three brilliant ones, tailored to suit your budget…

Who’s over Monday?

Treating yourself shouldn’t be reserved for the weekend, I always say. The weekend is lovely enough – Monday is the day I always opt for a face mask and a flick through my favourite magazine, because generally? Mondays are crap.

So today, I’ve picked for you three of my favourite masks – some new, some old – and they’re at three massively different price points depending on what you’re after, budget wise. I’ve got a pure luxury one, a lovely mid-range one and a really great budget one, all doing different things to your skin.

TOTAL LUXE MASK

Image Skincare is a brand I am fond of already – I really enjoy their Vital C serum, their Ageless Cleanser and their Ormedic Balancing Serum. When they bring out new things, I’m always in a rush to try them out. I gave their new I Mask Firming Transformation Mask a go this past weekend and, correct me if I’m being big-headed here, but I once again have the bouncy, plump skin I had as a small child. An absolute result, in my book.

It’s said to make your skin ‘happy’, using endorphin-releasing ingredient Mediterranean pepper berry extract. I mean, I didn’t ask my skin directly, but it certainly looked happier.

HOW TO USE: Apply a thin layer to cleansed skin and allow to dry for 5 to 15 minutes. Wet fingertips and massage skin for one minute. Rinse with warm water. Use 3 to 5 times per week, as needed.

STILL A LOVELY MASK

Origins Drink Up mask is a firm favourite of mine when my skin needs a punch of hydration. It contains apricot and Swiss glacier water – both, apparently, intensely hydrating ingredients. I love this for winter in particular, but hey! It’s April in Ireland. We’re still technically in winter until that joyous June week when the Leaving Cert starts.

HOW TO USE: Apply a light layer to cleansed skin, massaging in and leaving for 10 minutes. Tissue off the excess. Use twice per week, or as needed.

LITTLE LESS SPENDY MASK

Cheap as chips but still startlingly good, The Inkey List Kaolin mask is a white clay affair that absorbs excess oil, removes toxins and generally makes skin feel like it’s been purged of all evil. Dramatic? Me?

I noticed some unclogged pores, a more even tone to my skin and a generally clean feeling after I used this the first time, and I kind of expected that feeling not to return after that initial use. I’m glad to say it did!

HOW TO USE: Use AM or PM once per week. Apply a thin layer to damp skin, avoiding the eye area. Leave on for 10 minutes, rinse off using warm water, pat your face dry and finish with your preferred serums and moisturisers.
