Dry shampoos are known as hair saviours, rescuing greasy locks from the depths. Here are the three that, I’ll admit, I’m probably overly reliant on…
I don’t go one week, or even one day sometimes, without using dry shampoo. For that reason, as you can imagine, I’ve tried a very significant amount of them. So here are three I’m into recently alongside some great water-saving tips (which is a great way to avoid hair washing — you’re helping save water!)
Joico Weekend Hair Dry Shampoo
€19.95 from salons and beautyfeatures.ie
What I love about this one is that it reminds me of my all-time love, Kevin Murphy Doo.Over, except it’s a more literal dry shampoo rather than a texture spray. I love that it contains an encapsulated fragrance, meaning that it can release fresh fragrance whenever you touch or brush your hair, making sure you have a clean scent all day long. And it doesn’t have that tell-tale dry shampoo smell. We all know the one.
Primark X AF Fresh Dry Shampoo
Recently launched into Penneys, Andrew Fitzsimons’ haircare range is selling out all over the place. I love the grips, the tools and of course… the dry shampoo. It’s got such a glam vibe, which is not always something that can be said for dry shampoos. The whole range is spot on. Penneys/Primark getting it right once again with their finger on the beauty pulse.
Klorane Nettle Dry Shampoo
I am truly obsessed with Klorane’s entire dry shampoo range. I keep them stocked up and never let myself be without a bottle somewhere. Klorane also go above and beyond when it comes to helping the planet, and with their dry shampoo relaunch recently came this info, which I think we could all make use of right now. Here are their water-saving suggestions.
- Turn off the tap:
Sounds obvious but by turning off the tap while you brush your teeth, lather your shampoo, leave your conditioner or hair mask get to work, you can save quite a few litres of water each day.
- Dry Shampoo Challenge:
Avoid washing your hair just once a week, using dry shampoo in its place and save up to 500 litres per year!
- Shorter showers:
On average, a five-minute shower consumes 60 to 200 litres of water. For the day you’re not shampooing your hair in the shower, try to cut your shower time in half. Play a great song that is under 3 minutes long and have a bop and a singalong while you’re at it – a great way to start the day!
- Wash your veggies and feed your plants:
Instead of running your vegetables under the tap to clean them, washing all that nutrient-rich soil down the drain, wash them over a basin and use the water for your plants.
- Check your pipes:
Water leaks, even minor ones, contribute to a huge amount of water loss and wastage. Have a plumber come around to your house or office to check everything is in working order.
