Winter nail ideas to upgrade your hand game this party season

by Aisling Keenan

Winter nail ideas are everywhere on Instagram right now, from the usual darker tones to trending shapes, lengths and nail art styles. Here are some I’ll be screengrabbing and bringing to my next appointment…

1 ’80s cool

This Saved by the Bell bomber jacket-style ’80s extravaganza is minimal with a hint of Art Attack. Neil Buchanan and Zach Morris would both be here for this look.

2 Seeing stars

This look is two things: incredibly subtle and shockingly easy to recreate. It won’t involve two long hours in the salon, so if you’re tight for time, choose this.

3 Classic chestnut

This elegant and timeless look uses shade 719, Richness, to give mani glamour like only Chanel could pull off. The chestnut red is the red of the season for sure.

4 Full-on Christmas

If you really, really want to commit to the theme, Christmas red and white Lapland-esque nails are here for you.

5 Straight to the point

Sure, these might be the least practical nails since the Guinness Book of Records, but look how pretty? I love the mix of matte and sheen here too. A little shorter and the caramel colour would be a total win.

6 Ombre, ombre, ombre, ombre

(That was to the tune of Olé, Olé in case you didn’t sing it that way…) The multi-nail ombre trend is back for winter and this neutral toned version is right up my street.

7 Rose gold winners

These short, glitter rose gold nails are the perfect balance for party season. You’re glam, you’re glittery, but you can still wrap presents.
